Visiting Larry

When my travel buddy Joyce and I went to Kansas City to have dinner with our travel buddy Larry, I invited my travel buddy grandson Adam and his girl friend Heather to meet us there.
Although Adam had instructions from Larry as to the route he should take from Lawrence, KS to Parkville, MO where Larry lives, Adam took a wrong exit and ended up in downtown KC. However, Adam was only a cell phone call away and Larry quickly guided him back to the correct Interstate.
After dinner at Nick and Jake's, we went to Larry's and watched "Cruise Control: Off!" the slide show/video that I made of our Baltic cruise.

Seattle: The Slide Show

Just released! This dobomo production features photographs and video from the private collection of DJ Boyer.

The chronological story line of the slide show/video recounts experiences of Boyer and her sister during a visit with her Seattle-based niece in May. All the pictures in the video were downloaded from Boyer's Canon camera and are exclusive to the slide show.

Look for more photos in the soon-to-be-published book: "2010 Seattle Area Restaurant, Garden,Museum and Scenic Shopping Tour." The book is a compilation of pictures by Boyer, Dorothy Tietz and Marcee Townsend.

Seattle Tour

I'm baaaack! Spent the week in Seattle at Marcee's with Ditz Sis Dot. Here is my version of our self-portrait group shot. We all set our cameras on timers, pushed the buttons and ran to pose. Three cameras...all Canon...flashed red warning lights for 10 seconds and then all three went off at nearly the same time.

Art for the Health of It...spring exhibit

Continuing with our ventures into the art world, Dot, Gina and I submitted pictures to the spring exhibit of "Art for the Health of It."

Although the judges did not agree on the quality and creativity of our entries, We three are sure that our art work is praiseworthy. And we will continue to look for venues where we can display our creations.

After the award ceremony, we enjoyed a meal at the Frederick Inn where we consoled ourselves with comfort food and whine.

Art Awards

The Ditz-Sisters competed again in the Albrecht-Kemper Membership Exhibit, taking home the third place award in the watercolor category. Dot encouraged her business partner, Gina, to enter also. However, when a Ditz-Sis enters a contest, others just need to stand away from the award table. Fair Warning.

January 14, 2010

Dorothy and I went Downtown Jan. 14 to get our hair styled at Bliss Salon. Bobbie Jo cut mine and Patrick did Dot's. Of course, we began our adventure with margaritas and lunch at 54th Street, using part of our Christmas gift cards from Barney.

Christmas Shopping

Sister Dot drove us to Independence Mall Sunday so we could shop at Macy's. I wanted Chanel skin conditioner and a dress suit. Dot was looking for an outfit to wear to the Country Club President's Ball.

Because we were engaged in conversation during the drive, Dot decided to take the long wayto the mall.

Ummm...Well...OK.... We were talking and she missed the exit. But she quickly rerouted and we arrived at the Mall just as the 54th Street Restaurant was opening. We were the first customers of the day.

After lunch and Margaritas, we headed over to Macy's. We were dressed to undress (front zippered sweater for Dot; buttoned jacket for me) so we could try on clothes without messing up our hair too much. We soon had hangers full of outfits piled up near several dressing rooms throughout the store.

Dot's search for a Presidential Ball gown was successful after she and a grandmother-of-the-bride traded critiques and clothing choices. Our sales clerk, Ethel, found a good discount on the navy suit I wanted.

On our way out of the store, we learned that Chanel make-up is no longer available at the Independence Mall. It's sold only at the 119th Street store. (Where is that????) OK. Macy's and Chanel. I will return to using Estee Lauder and I will buy it in St. Joseph.

When we returned to St. Joseph, we stopped at Carlos O'Kelly's for a final Margarita.

Now we have a new tradition. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, we will drink Margaritas and go Christmas shopping. And only buy things for ourselves. *LOL*

Watercolor Class

Artists in training...Dot, Gina and I...went to watercolor class today. We had planned to sneak out for lunch and margaritas at 1 pm, but we were having too much fun to put away our paintbrushes. In fact, Gina and I even purchased additional ones.

We joined our teacher and fellow classmates at Panera's for sandwiches around noon. (Dot..a self-proclaimed brown-noser.. grabbed the seat next to the teacher.) Afterwards, we returned to the Hobby Lobby classroom to apply our newly-learned skills to watercolor paper.

At three o'clock, too tired to sip tequila, we packed up our supplies and damp paintings and went on...more than a bit surprised that we had worked FIVE hours.

Back in the Day

Does my hair look the same as it did when I was eight or nine years old? *LOL*
